In recent days we have seen a crescendo of violence against women, by the atrocious attacks in the gang rape, which occurred mainly in the city of Rome. Violence against women is a phenomenon that now takes on the traits of a true national emergency, constitute the leading cause of death for women and young women. As reported a recent study by Istat, in fact, 7 million women between 16 and 70 have suffered in our country, sexual or physical violence during their lifetime, equal to one in three women. Of these, 5 million have suffered sexual violence, 1 million has been rapes or attempted rapes. Gender violence is primarily domestic, and is performed by family members and partners. But of course that happens randomly in the street by strangers is no less dramatic. There is a big security problem for women in the city, which covers the suburbs isolated and dark, the lack of services and instruments appropriate to timely contrast, the lack of structures for support and prevention. Faced with this data so alarming that we report are an underestimation of the seriousness of the problem and a cultural climate of the devaluation of the dignity of women. Ma ciò presuppone che si riconosca che il problema esiste, che riguarda le relazioni stesse tra uomini e donne e che richiede un impegno straordinario. Gli interventi del governo in questo settore sono invece di segno opposto. Non esiste più un piano contro la violenza di genere, non vengono stanziate risorse per i centri antiviolenza, i 20 milioni di euro del 2008 non sono stati reiterati per il 2009, le leggi sullo stalking e sulla violenza sessuale vanno a rilento. Tutti gli emendamenti dell'opposizione per introdurre già nel pacchetto sicurezza misure più stringenti sono stati respinti. Per questo chiediamo che: - il ministro dell'interno Maroni venga al più presto in Parlamento a riferire sulla grave emergenza della violenza contro le donne e sulle misure, anche finanziarie, che il Government must put in place as soon as possible to deal with it and make cities safer for women - the Parliament as soon as possible to take into consideration the proposals of the Democratic Party against violence against women, to support anti-violence center - the law stalking is approved as quickly as possible - the government has in place anti-violence campaign which informs women about the facilities and services to prevent and combat courses and providing education in respect of female difference in schools, to promote respect for the dignity and the rights of women - who make policies effective integration of immigrants.
